Frequently asked questions.
What is Montessori?
The Montessori Method is a holistic approach to education based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s scientific observations of how children learn and grow: through hands-on, purposeful activities, guided by their natural interests and abilities.
Montessori is a child-centered philosophy, meaning the teacher doesn't teach all children the same thing at the same time. Instead, the well prepared and trained teacher carefully observes every child and guides each of them along their individual path of development.
Authentic Montessori classrooms have a 3-year age mix – for example, in the Primary class, 3-6 year olds are together. The younger children look up to and learn from their older peers, and the older children build confidence and consolidate knowledge through teaching the younger ones. It’s a magical thing to watch, and we welcome you to set up a visit to do just that.
